Attendance Procedures at GBHS

A parent or legal guardian must contact GBHS to report any absences: late arrival, early release, partial or all-day absence. This includes medical appointments, even with a doctor's note. This is the only way an absence will be considered EXCUSED.

Only parents/guardians can excuse an absence!

  • Excused Absences allow students to make up missed work and exams.
  • Excused absences still count as an absence for your student.
  • Students still need to check in or out when missing part of a day.
  • Students should talk to their teacher to correct an unexcused absence.

Late Arrival and All-Day Absences

For late arrival or all-day absences, a parent/guardian should report through ParentVue or call the Attendance Hotline at (810) 591-6685. When calling, please be ready with the following information:

  • Student's name and ID number (6 digits)
  • Caller's name, phone number, and relation to the student
  • Date(s) of absence
  • The reason for the absence

Students arriving late must sign in at the front security desk.

If you have questions or need to speak with the attendance secretary, call (810) 591-6026.

Early Release

Students leaving early must be called out by a parent/guardian PRIOR to leaving the building and must sign out in the office. If not, they will be unexcused. (Either office can be contacted.)
